Axiom law
UX & visual designer: 2018 - Present
AXIOM’s vision
Axiom is a company that provides legal services from a pool of elite lawyers to clients. Clients hire Axiom to find fitting talent for their contracts. Talent are lawyers who are choosing to freelance for Axiom rather than working in a law firm. Axiom seeks to pull those two groups together in a more efficient way that benefits everyone in reasonable working hours and money and time saved.
my role
As the senior designer on the Axiom design team, I was able to touch many aspects of the Axiom experience from end-to-end, such as the profile for the lawyer who might be trying to manage their engagements (Axiom for Talent - AFT) and the application that clients use to manage their hires (Axiom for Clients - AFC). For AFT and AFC I’ve conducted user studies to help define the product. For AFT, this involved creating prototypes and outlining the problematic areas. For AFC, this involved not only the creation of the prototype, but the project management aspect as well— creating the contact list by reaching out to sales, drafting the emails, contacting clients, creating the schedule for the clients and executives, conducting the actual studies, and sifting through the data.
In addition to both of these applications, I’ve also helped Axiom redesign their marketing site and create a truly digital experience for the Clients to find their perfect fit.
AXIOM FOR TALENT
An app for a lawyer working with Axiom. From here, they can check update their profile, set their work preferences, and manage their engagements. I did both the UX and the visual design for this page under the guidance of the product owner.
AXIOM FOR CLIENTS
I had the privilege of being the sole designer on a client-facing app called Axiom for Clients. The app is intended to be used for clients to manage their bench — a dashboard full of lawyers they’ve hired— and a place of record. I worked closely with product owners, stakeholders, and developers to implement these designs. In addition to that work, we did user research studies against the pool of clients we have today to determine which data values were most helpful to the client.
CONCEPTS - CARDS & DASHBOARDS
These were concepts for what ultimately became the Axiom for Clients bench. As you can see, it’s a mixture of data visualization and user cards.
PENDO
At Axiom, I also worked with a third-party application called Pendo which allowed us to overlay content over the top of our existing code. This initiative was wholly owned by me as a designer and allowed us to implement modals, resource centers, and even marketing links without much dev work. Because this was wholly owned by me, I was able to save Axiom money as far as development time.
Axiom has a concept called Digital Submissions, which are profiles that are sent to clients to represent the lawyer. The client can decide if they’re interested in moving forward with the lawyer based on the submission. In this example, the items in the left navigation are Pendo elements— they follow the user down the page and take them back to the marketing site if clicked.
Another thing that I owned is the ability to write communications and guides for users both new and existing. Pendo allowed us ease of access to our user base and we used it to create step-by-step instructions for new or complicated features as well as reaching out for satisfaction surveys.
